According to MOPT data, the average response time for a damaged traffic light within the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) is up to 24 hours. However, for communities outside the GAM, the wait can extend to as long as 16 days, depending on the complexity of the failure and the availability of specialized crews.
This Waze integration marks a critical first step in addressing these disparities. By creating a more robust and immediate data-gathering system, MOPT is not only improving its operational efficiency but also building a foundation for a smarter, more resilient, and citizen-focused transportation network.
